What You Should Know About LightForce Braces: A Comprehensive Guide

Have you heard about LightForce Braces, but aren’t sure what they are? Would you like to know what makes them different from traditional metal braces? In this comprehensive guide, we’ll answer all your questions and provide an in-depth look at at this cutting-edge orthodontic treatment.

What Are They?

LightForce Braces are the latest innovation in orthodontic technology for straightening teeth. This treatment utilizes customized 3D-printed brackets and wires to move teeth into their correct positions.

LightForce Braces are far less visible than traditional metal braces, making them a great option for adults and teens who want to straighten their teeth without drawing attention to their smile. They are also more comfortable to wear, as they may not rub against the gums or cheeks like metal braces can.

Another advantage of LightForce Braces is that they work faster than traditional braces. In most cases, patients will see results up to 30% faster!

What are the Benefits of LightForce Braces?

Customized Brackets: LightForce braces use 3D printing technology to create brackets that are specifically designed for each patient’s unique tooth shape and bite. Every set is 100% unique to the patient.

Indirect Bonding: The brackets are attached to the teeth using a custom-made tray called a LightTray, which ensures precise placement and greatly reduces the appointment time compared to bonding traditional metal braces.

Potential for Faster Treatment: The precision of the brackets and the customized treatment plan can lead to faster and more efficient tooth movement, potentially reducing overall treatment time – usually by up to 30%!

Improved Comfort: The custom fit and materials used in LightForce braces can contribute to a more comfortable experience for patients. Less rubbing against the lips and cheeks compared to metal braces.

Enhanced Accuracy: The 3D printing process allows for more precise and accurate bracket placement, which can improve the overall outcome of orthodontic treatment.

Aesthetic Options: LightForce braces are available in clear or white, offering patients a more discreet look.

How Does the LightForce Process Work?

  1. The process begins with a digital scan of the patient’s teeth and bite – No need for goopy trays or uncomfortable molds!
  2. Dr. Emerick designs a custom digital treatment plan, and sends it to the LightForce lab for 3D printing. The lab then sends back the custom-made brackets, and the LightTray bonding jig.
  3. The LightTray is used to precisely place the brackets on the patient’s teeth. Wires are then inserted into the brackets, and the teeth are gradually moved into their desired positions.

Do They Hurt?

Pain is typically not experienced at the initial bonding appointment, however you may feel some discomfort in the following hours as your teeth adjust to the new braces. This is usually temporary and can be remedied by using your choice of OTC pain-relief medicine.
